Why are we overweight or obese?
The most common cause of overweight and obesity are poor diet and /or eating habits and a lack of exercise.
Other factors that can lead to overweight and obesity include glandular malfunction, diabetes, hypoglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, emotional tension, boredom, and a simple love for food.
Because of an inadequate intake of certain essential nutrients, fat is not easily or adequately burned and can accumulate in the body. The alarming fact is that we are getting fatter because we have even stopped trying to lose weight.
Can this situation be reversed?
There are 3 basic approaches or actions we can take to lose weight successfully and gain back our health. (even type 2-diabetes can be reversed)
Step 1. Assess yourself with the Manna Weight Management Program self assessment steps.
It is very important that you understand where you are regarding your weight, how much you have to lose and to plan your weight loss route for better health and higher energy levels.
Step 2. Follow a LOW GI Menu Plan with LOW GI / LOW GL recipes. (see the FREE Manna LOW GI Menu Plans)

Colon Health is crucial to achieve your goal weight and ultimate health. (and also to prevent numerous ailments)
Have you ever thought about this statement?
Well, it is true, whether you believe it or not.
Most people experience constipation from time to time, but usually lifestyle changes and better eating habits can help relieve the symptoms and prevent recurrences.

Low GI diet improves insulin sensitivity in women with PCOS
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common hormonal disorders affecting pre-menopausal women and the leading cause of female infertility. Symptoms include irregular or absent periods, infertility or reduced fertility, hirsutism (excess hair growth on the face, chest and abdomen), alopecia (scalp hair loss), acne, obesity and difficulty losing weight and increased risk of miscarriage. Many women also complain of excessive tiredness and fatigue, hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), and poor memory and concentration.

Diet TIP of the week
1. Water is of utmost importance – have you ever got hungry and after you have eaten something, you realised that you were actually thirsty? Try to sip on water throughout the day, because the body needs fluid to help regulate blood sugar levels. When blood sugar levels start to drop, you experience hunger, where it might only be a need for fluid (water)
2. If you want to be successful with any weight loss plan, you MUST NEVER GET HUNGRY. The minute your blood sugar levels drop too low, cravings for certain foods kick in and all your good efforts is gone. Some people say that 6 small portions of food during the day is nonsense, but try it for yourself and you will see the difference. Try to eat a small breakfast at 7a.m. then at 10a.m. take a small snack. (Low GI & Low GL – fiber with little carbs – like nuts or biltong, a whole wheat snacker with a piece of cheese)
A small lunch at 1pm., another small snack at 4p.m and a small dinner at 7p.m. ( you can also replace one or 2 meals with a Low GI Manna Shake and maybe eat a small fruit with it.
This method will prevent you from going hungry and although you are taking more small quantities of food, you are actually eating less than with 3 large meals. The only difference is that now you are in control of your blood sugar levels. You will be amazed by the results and the amount of energy that you will have.
See the Free Manna meal plans and stay away from soft drinks and high carb snacks like chips, chocolates and energy bars.
